Poggenpohl Park Event
The German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) held an event in the Poggenpohl Park Avenue showroom on June 4th. GACC invited two industry insiders to talk about their experiences in establishing their companies. The event, "Kitchen Talk", featured Kitchensurfing.com Co-Founder Borahm Cho & HelloFresh.com CEO Seth Goldman. The GACC offered this program as part of an entrepreneur networking event including a select group of investors and tech companies.
Kitchensurfing is an online marketplace that matches up chefs and people who need a cook at a personalized budget. Users choose from a variety of engagements, from cooking lessons for kids to fried chicken parties to 10-course anniversary dinners. The site lets folks browse through photos and mini-profiles of chefs -- kind of like a dating website, but for foodies.
The Berlin start-up HelloFresh is setting new standards in food e-commerce: Since its founding in December 2011, HelloFresh has succeeded in establishing the new category of cooking boxes on the foodstuff market. The concept was developed by founders Jessica Nilsson, Thomas Griesel and Dominik Richter in Berlin, and within the shortest time unfolded internationally. Partnerships with experienced venture capital donors, and smart money in the amount of 150 million Euro fuelled the start-up's fast growth. The USA is currently the most important market, and with that, the largest driver of growth.
