On May 15th Poggenpohl celebrated Yogesh Dhokia’s 25 years with the company at a party held at Norman Glenn, its Finchley Road showroom. The evening event was attended by staff and customers keen to show their appreciation of one of the company’s most popular and successful showroom managers.
Although he has a degree in maths and economics Yogesh was always creative. After university and a year working for Bulthaup he joined Norman Glenn, the Poggenpohl kitchen showroom on London’s Finchley Road, and stayed for 25 years designing over 1.000 kitchens. Despite seeing many changes in the industry, he has always hand drawn his designs. He says, “You can add a very personal touch to hand drawings and I think customers value them far more than computer generated images.”
This attention to detail has resulted in a loyal following with Yogesh supplying kitchens to second and third generations of the same family. One particular customer has moved house and refurbished properties resulting in five repeat visits to Yogesh. And when his customers move abroad they still call on Yogesh to design their kitchens, he has worked on projects as far afield as Delhi.
“What I enjoy most about this job are the people,” he says. “I enjoy the challenge of meeting new customers but also love the fact that so many of my existing customers consider me a friend.”
