Alexandra Sonntag joins Poggenpohl to bring nature into the increasingly celebrated home space: the kitchen. Powerful and still controlled, sensual and yet distanced, her paintings marry opposites, thus captivating the observer to look into the depth of the image. Powerful storms of colour; a disturbingly silent nature. A source of inspiration that, when integrated into the kitchen space, explores our deepest feelings to create the most fascinating yet humble culinary delicacies.
Alexandra Sonntag motifs communicate but they also hinder clear statements. They are like viruses that invade the mysterious area behind the eyes, just like pathogens flooding the connecting channels between the retina and the soul. Messages of the unconsciousness; the subconscious as a message.
