Number 1, Bishopgate is located in a sought-after neighbourhood in Singapore, surrounded by lush greenery, close to the business district and amid embassies. Its developers, Kajima Overseas Asia, aimed to create a sense of an opulent country house for each of the 31 properties in the condominium, with shared facilities including a gymnasium, lap pool, children's play pool and clubhouse. The interiors, too, had to be appointed using the highest quality materials and brands, to meet the expectations of the new owners.
Poggenpohl's range suited the style, image and culture of KOA, which is a Japanese company, as its finishes and materials are neither loud nor ostentatious. KOA chose the Poggenpohl +MODO range with two glass drawers integrated beneath the long, L-shaped marble countertop, giving a lighter feeling to the kitchen and maintaining a pleasing visual balance within the living space. The open glass shelves and subtle, understated shades of the Poggenpohl +MODO kitchens will provide ample scope for future apartment owners to express their own personalities, whether through objects d'art, paintings or kitchen accessories.
The brief for the kitchen was an open space, facing out into the living and dining areas, with both an Asian (wet) kitchen and a gourmet kitchen for entertaining and interacting with guests. The kitchens include fridge, wine chiller, steam oven, conventional oven, an induction hob, island hood and dishwasher. A three-zone gas hob is also fitted to the Asian kitchen.
