"There were 1,784 entries for the Sub-Zero & Wolf Kitchen Design Contest," stated
Neil Bailey, president Poggenpohl U.S. "And just 53 regional winners were chosen. We are incredibly proud to be represented by our extraordinary Poggenpohl designers and wish them luck as they move on to the National competition to be decided in September."
The winning design is a kitchen remodel for a busy family who needed their kitchen to function for homework, family dinners and entertaining. The designer noted the biggest challenge to be the column in the middle of the kitchen. Using that challenge as inspiration, the column was used to hold up a beautiful vaulted ceiling while it also ties into a beam that inspired the framework for the entire kitchen. The frame continues around the Stainless Sub-Zero refrigerator. The column is buried in the island that functions as a bar and acts as an anchor for the custom Hickory table. There is a larger island that houses a 48” Wolf range, plenty of storage and an ice maker and wine cooler that service the bar area. The kitchen design features Poggenpohl Teak Décor Lava with Aluminum Edge; the pulls are fully integrated into each drawer and door front. The wall cabinets feature an accent of Satin Mirror Glass.
Cheryl Carpenter will be entered in an on-line “Designers Choice Competition” during the month of July. In September the she will attend the Best of the Best winners summit in Scottsdale where the first, second, and third place winners will be announced as well as the Designer’s Choice and Student winners.
