For a family of six who entertain a lot the brief was for a practical kitchen that would look good but stand up to wear and tear. The family wanted a contemporary look and therefore chose Poggenpohl.
Designer Jon Andrews created a 6m long island with stainless steel worktop and white quartz breakfast bar. He says, "The long island makes best use of the space and provides ample worksurface. The long run of wall units might have appeared bulky, so we recessed them into a specially designed feature.
"Large rooms require lots of interest to prevent them looking bland. Here we complemented the steel worksurface and Gaggenau appliances with tall cabinets in teak to add warmth, we also introduced opaque glass wall cabinets and beige gloss base units to lift the look."
